Probate
Every estate is different with its own elements to deal with. Please see below some examples of our fees for different estates of different sizes. These are examples and we cannot guarantee that this is the quote that you will receive as each quote is based on each individual estate.
Example 1
For an estate including;
1 property
Up to 2 bank account providers
Valid Will
Estate value up to £400,000
Our fixed fee for this estate would be £3000 plus VAT and disbursements
Example 2
For an estate including;
1 property
Up to 5 bank account providers or other financial investments
Valid Will
Estate value up to £800,000
Our fixed fee for this estate would be £5000 to £7500 plus VAT and disbursements
Example 3
For an estate including;
1 property
Up to 8 bank account providers or other financial investments
Valid Will
Estate value up to £1.2m
Our fixed fee for this estate would be £7,500 to £15,000 plus VAT and disbursements
Example 4
For an estate including:
1 or 2 properties
Up to 12 bank account providers or other financial investments
Valid Will
Estate value up to £2.5m
Our fixed fee for this estate would be between £15,000 to £25,000 plus VAT and disbursements
Example 5
For estates over £2.5m it is difficult to provide a set figure as there will likely be special circumstances. For estates of this size we can discuss this with you and then provide you with a quote.
Disbursements
All of our fees above mention disbursements. Disbursements are costs that may need to be paid during the administration of the estate depending on the circumstances. We will only be able to confirm what costs will be needed following discussing the estate, but to give you a better idea below is a list of those disbursements which are more common:
Grant of Probate fee: £273.00
Extra copies of Grant of Probate: £1.50 each
Title deeds for estate property: £3.60
Anti-money laundering check: £5.40 each*
Bankruptcy search: £2.40 each*
London Gazette fee: £95.58
* Please note we are required to undertake anti-money laundering and bankruptcy searches against executors and beneficiaries due to The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) regulations 2017.
Where it is necessary to lodge a formal estate income tax return there will be an additional charge of £500 - £1,000 plus VAT
